In February of this year, Coinbase announced they were launching their own Layer-2 chain, Base. Crypto got really excited for two to three days, and then quickly forgot about it in typical crypto-fashion.

Fast forward 6 months and Base is prepped for launch. Scheduled for release on August 9th, like it or not, Base is poised to succeed. Don’t worry; we will tell you the “why” later on.

This is a huge move for Coinbase and we rarely get too excited about things in the crypto sphere, but we are absolutely amped over this. 👇

MORE BASE

Often in crypto, markets repeat themselves in some way, shape, or fashion. With the release of Base, we can’t help but be reminded of the release of BSC (Binance Smart Chain) in 2017. Sure, it was a carbon copy of Ethereum, and yes, the validators were simply just the Binance Cartel doing what they do - but this didn’t change the fact that the user base exposure from Binance customers to the BSC chain was almost a guaranteed win.

As with all chains, the technicals matter, but as BSC has PROVEN, the user count matters more. Currently, there is not another exchange to better bridge customers into DeFi than Coinbase. With over 108 million customers that they have direct access to, they will FOR SURE drive them onto Base for one simple reason. It’s profitable.

The massive gains your average crypto user chases are born and bread in DeFi, with a single access point into the ecosystem via Base, where things are about to get VERY interesting.
